This was a fast-tack design-build partnering project that addressed the need for bulk fluids storage and delivery systems for the new GMT 355 Plant, providing a new storage tanks facility with a methanol storage tank (8,000 gallons, explosion proof), and a new brake fluid storage tank (10,000 gallons, explosion proof, and nitrogen-blanketed), and lined, secondary containment, complete with a new truck unload/tank load facility, and all associated paving for truck access, also with secondary containment for truck load facility, complete with lined sump. The project also provided a refrigerant storage tank (6,000 gallons) and delivery pumps facility, including a truck unload station.

The project provided a new trestle from storage tanks facility to the plant, approximately 140 linear feet long, and provided and installed all associated fluids delivery piping, and compressed air, water, and process waste piping routed through the plant and across trestle, without delaying plant startup/commissioning operations. All required underground utilities revisions and additions, and all required regrading of the site to provide for proper drainage, and access to the facilities were included.

In addition to the above, the improvements included:

  • Access stairs and walkways for transfer pumps and tanks
  • Tanks continuous level monitoring and high level alarming
  • Containment sumps level alarming, with manually initiated sump pumping for each
  • New trestle from methanol and brake fluid storage tanks facility to plant
  • Fire alarm and suppression system additions
  • A new control building for the methanol and brake fluid facility
  • All associated power distribution, lighting, heat trace, and instrumentation and controls for the above, including tying into existing plantwide network and security systems
